Regular readers will know that I am not afraid of bold colours and I had been lusting after just the right shade of purple lipstick for a long time now. I spotted this on a video by MillMollMac, a fabulous Scottish makeup artist, and it was lust at first sight. On her it looked like a fabulous statement purple lip. Not too dark, not too goth, just perfect. Given than it is only £4 it was a total no brainer.
Now I like the unusual oval shaped packaging and the colour in the bullet looks fab. It doesn’t have any taste and has only the mildest of waxy scents, almost unnoticeable. Unfortunately that is where the good points end for me. The finish is matte which I like but it is very drying. The colour is nice and opaque but tends to go patchy on me as it fades.
I could forgive it all of these things for that glorious purple shade but sadly it commits an unforgivable sin as soon as it goes on my lips. It turns pink. I don’t want pink, I have pinks galore. I wanted purple damnit! I’ve seen it on other people in all its purple glory but on my super pigmented naturally red lips it’s just a plain old boring pink. So the search continues and this gets shoved to the back of the drawer, probably to never see the light of day again x
