Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

Estee Lauder Double Wear has been suggested to me in the past as a solution for my amazing foundation dissolving oily nose however when I tried it on in shop I wasn’t a fan. I like a full coverage foundation but this was FULL coverage in the extreme. The lovely SA suggested Double Wear light as a more natural feeling/ looking option but assured me that the lighter formula wouldn’t compromise the staying power. Thankfully their palest shade (01 shockingly) was light enough for me so I picked it up. After a couple of weeks of playing with it I think I can say with confidence that this is one fan-bloody-tastic foundation.

The first thing I like about it is the packaging. It’s in a squeezy tube with a thin nozzle allowing you to squeeze out exactly how much you need with zero mess. It’s hygienic and compact although the one down side is it’s a bit difficult to tell how much you have left. You get 30ml of product for £25 but you don’t need much to get decent coverage so I can see this lasting a good long while. It has a very slight scent but the heavy floral perfume that I normally associate with Estee Lauder. The SPF 10 is a nice touch too though I use a higher SPF normally anyway.

The formula is slightly more fluid than things like Revlon Colorstay and as a result you get a bit more time to blend. It dries down a matte finish though I do still like to set it with a powder anyway. The coverage is still full though I can’t say I’m particularly aware of it on my skin. If you like a really natural looking result this isn’t for you as it does give you a ‘made up’ finish. I like it though. The staying power is pretty impressive too. Bear in mind that by the end of the day every foundation I own (including Colorstay and L’Oreal Infallible) generally fades away from my nose a fair bit. I blot and I powder frequently but to no avail. This will still show signs of wear, especially around the edges of my nose where it will wear off, but it is still there for the most part after a 15 hour day which is pretty darn impressive. I haven’t worn the original Double Wear for a full day so I can’t compare.

As with all foundations, especially heavy duty ones, it is vital to remove every last bit at the end of the day. I’m very careful about this and as I have not experienced any breakout from using it (I’ve been using it almost daily for 2 weeks). The dry patches aren’t exacerbated by it either. Whilst I still love my Clinique Superbalanced for a natural finish this is definitely becoming a firm favourite in my eyes. I’d repurchase in a heartbeat x

*I bought this using the trusty old Boots advatange points!*
