What matters in real estate, they say, is location, location, location. When talking about skin care products, we could say what matters is ingredients, ingredients, ingredients.
The ideal anti-aging skin care line should include the best sun protection ingredients to stave off UV damage and the best antioxidants to fight off free radical damage from the UV rays that get past the sun protection, as well as free radicals from environmental factors and the body’s own internal processes. Look for Helioplex or Parsol 1789 for sun protection; and Active C, Idebenone, or CoEnzyme Q10 as anitoxidants.
Next your skin craves moisture to replenish and support its glycan network, the layer between the epidermis and the dermis. The gycan network facilitates cellular communication and gives the skin thickness and a soft resilient surface. When the glycan network is depleted, the skin dries out and thins. Look for Hyaluronic Acid and Diazolidinyl Urea.
If your skin seems dull and lifeless, that’s probably because it is. Dead skin cells are not sloughing off as they did in younger years. For this you want to look for good exfoliating ingredients like retinoic acid, alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids.
Finally there are now some wonderful truly age-reversing ingredients. Most of these are in the peptide family and include Copper Peptide, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide and Acetyl Hexapeptide-3.
