Words of Wisdom from Ruth

Thank you so much for this beautiful email. I love hearing how beauty is NOT skin deep and about your faith!

I have become disabled in the last two years and at first I totally gave up on all aspects of myself but the spiritual. I have been shown that I am STILL to care for my body. Skin care products are a luxury that I can't always afford so I love reading your reviews and making "informed" choices.

Thank you for helping me point myself back "home" to my faith and to taking care of myself.

Blessings -

Ruth

“We may also find meaning in life even when confronted with a hopeless situation, when facing a fate that cannot be changed. For what matters then is to bear witness to the uniquely human potential at its best, which is to transform a personal tragedy into a triumph to turn one’s predicament into a human achievement.” Viktor Frankl

Cheers -

Ruth

Dear Ruth,

Thank you so much for writing to let me know that my letter touched you and that you enjoy reading my newsletters. and articles for Ageless Beauty. My words came from my heart, but I had my doubts about sending such a personal message and personal information to my subscribers.

The feedback has been 100% positive. So now I feel even closer to my readers and I’m glad I took the risk.

Your story is inspiring, as is the beautiful quote following your signature. You are a true example of what I was talking about – Inner Beauty.

God bless,

Jean

“Leon's Anti-Aging Beauty Secrets” by Leon Rao

I just finished reading an e-book, “Leon's Anti-Aging Beauty Secrets” by Leon Rao. Leon is a beautiful young woman with Oriental features. Well, maybe she’s not so young but just practices what she preaches.

We have a lot in common (not the young part unfortunately). Leon loves photoghraphy, writing about beauty, blogging and shopping, as do I. She takes a holistic approach in this book. I like that too.

The book covers everything anti-aging from healthy diet, to lifestyle to skin care. I especially enjoyed the chapter on beauty secrets from around the world. Women everywhere have always have found local substances to preserve their health and youthful beauty.

Many skin anti-aging products sold commercially include these very same ingredients because most cosmeceutical chemists and researchers are only too glad to accept the wisdom of the ages.

The largest portion of the book is dedicated to DIY recipes for anti-aging potions. There are wonderful sounding cleansers and face packs, as well as oils that can be used for facial massage.

Some of the cleanser recipes sound good enough to eat. You’ll also find recipes for serums, toners and exfoliators, as well as recipes to address specific concerns like puffy eyes, thinning lashes and thinning brows.

I’m not convinced of the benefit of facial exercises. On that, Leon and I can agree to disagree ;-)

You can read more from Leon Rao and buy her e-book at her website, Beauty Secrets Revealed.

If you have allergies or concerns over artificial ingredients like chemical preservatives or unnecessary added fragrance in commercial anti-aging products, you will want to have a copy of Leon’s book on your bookshelf – er – hard drive.

Custom Skin Care Advice by Jean - Part Two

[Here is the full article containing skin care advice for sensitive skin.]

Your blotchiness may be helped by regular exfoliation. The gentle exfoliating ingredients found in OTC creams (AHAs and BHAs) can be used daily, or less frequently if your skin becomes irritated. There are also OTC creams with skin-brighteners like licorice root and hydroquinone. My fave is
Olay Regenerist Targeted Tone Enhancer. If this doesn’t help, see a dermatologist who can prescribe something stronger like Retin-A, Renova or a higher concentration of hydroquinone.

Finally, for your anti-aging cream, I recommend
Peter Thomas Roth Wrinkle Preventer which is high in powerful antioxidants and contains the amazing new Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1. The antioxidants are to prevent free radical damage from sources other than the sun (pollution and the body’s own biochemical processes). The Tripeptide stimulates collagen production to fill in lines and wrinkles, as well as inhibits the body’s anticollagenase activity to preserve the collagen you have.

Custom Skin Care Advice by Jean - Part One

I am a 29 year old female with fair, sensitive, and combination skin. I also tend to have a slightly uneven/blotchy skin tone.

If you would be so kind, I would love to get your advice on anti-aging skin care creams. I have read too much on your site to be able to come to any conclusions on which products I might try myself... My issue is I have started to notice the fine lines around the eyes (thinning skin there too), also the nasal fold lines (ahhhhh - I hate those two lines) and the laugh lines too. If you could please advise a product for me to try I would forever be grateful. Cost is not an issue for me at this time.

Thank you so much,

Sarah
