EOTD: A little too much Shimmah Shimmah

I love Makeup Geek (hence the shimmah :p) Anyhoo I was mucking about trying to come up with something to wear for New Years and this turned out to be an epic fail. I got a little glitter happy and not a single matte shadow was used. As a result I don’t really like this but what the heck, I photographed it so now you folks get to dislike it too :p

Products used were:

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
Urban Decay Underland (Alice palette) on the lid
UD Curiouser (Alice Palette) inner part of lower lash line (fall out off this is a pain in the bum)
Sleek Bad Girl shimmery dark purple in the crease and outer corner and outer part of lower lash line
Sleek Bad Girl shimmery beige under brow (this is where the shimmer got a bit silly)
Front cover Mermaid Dreams palette Sunray in and above crease
FC MD palette Cloud dance as inner corner highlight
ELF Studio Cream eyeliner in Gunmetal on upper lashline (for crying out loud woman stop with the freaking shimmer please?)
Bourjois eye pencil in Noir on waterline
Max Factor Masterpiece mascara

I’m aware that there are more eye shadow colours on there than are strictly necessary but that is what happens when I’m left unsupervised at my dressing table. Now I’m off to figure out what I’m actually going to wear tonight.... x

EOTD: Xsparkage/ Nicoletta inspired Sleek Acid look

So this evening I was watching YT videos and catching up on blog reading and two things caught my eye. Firstly the gorgeous Nicoletta used the Sleek acid palette in a FOTD on her blog . I haven’t used mine in far too long. Then I watched a look by Xsparkage on You Tube featuring similar colours (I love her tutorials). Aha! Why do housework when you can play with makeup? Anyhoo here is my interpretation of the look. It isn’t the exact same outcome and my eye shape is awkward but I had fun and I really like it! Please, be kind.

I used the following shades from the Sleek Acid palette; matte white, matte neon yellow, matte neon green, matte neon green, satin darker green, matte neon pink, matte purple, matte black, both blue shades. Oh and I used a NYX jumbo pencil in Milk as a base and ELF cream liner in black.

I love the combination of green and purple. I’m not sure I would use blue on the bottom again but never mind x

Sleek Good Girl EOTD

A lot of people are nervous about pink eyeshadow. It can accentuate any redness in your eyes and like every other colour it won’t suit everyone. Personally I like it. I think it contrasts well with my dark eyes and hair. Here is a quick EOTD that I threw on before popping out to the shops last Saturday.

Clock wise from top left: Lychee, Meringue, Candy Floss, Lollipop, Pink Punch, Cupcake, Morello, Rasberry Coulis, Papaya, Peach Melba, Pink Grapefruit, Strawberry Sorbet

Wow... you can really see what a tiny lid space I have here. I’m quite grateful for my hooded eyes to be honest as I find it means I can wear mad colours without it looking too much. It can be difficult to avoid over applying though as I just don’t look good when I apply colour above my crease. Any way this is:

Lychee inner corner highlight
Meringue inner half of lid
Pink Grapefruit outer half of lid
Morello tiny amount on in outer corner
ELF Cream eyeliner in Black
Benefit Bad Gal liner water line (this is rubbish by the way...)
I cannot for the life of me remember what pink I used under the lower lash line!

Before you say the pink made my eyes look bloodshot it really didn’t. They were that red before hand... morning after the night before and all that xx

Halloween EOTD

Happy Halloween! Thisn is the look I sported to Sainsburys this morning. OTT? Yes but I love it if I do say so myself. I've also submitted this as a contest entry over at http://the-beautiful-news.blogspot.com/ . If you don't follow her you should as it's a fab read. Anyway here is my little Halloween look:

Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base
Orange shade from Sleek Sunset palette over the lid (you will note I have a very small lid space so the shape is suprisingly tricky for me!) and under middle of lower lashline
Matte black from Sleek Sunset palette in outer corner and shaped into the wing
Yellow/gold shade from Sleek Sunset palette in inner corner and inner part of lower lash line
Shimmery black shade from Sleek Graphite Palette under lower lash line
ELF Studio cream eyeliner in black along top lash line
Bourjois eyeliner in Noir on water line

Eyelashes were cheap as chips plain ones from eBay. I added the orange/ gold glitter to them myself using a MUA glitter liner (these are amazing by the way, expecially as they only cost £1) in shade 4.
The gem stones are also an eBay bargain from part of a nail art wheel stuck on with Revlon lash glue.

Did you do something different with your makeup for today? If you've posted a look somewhere then do leave me a link below :-) x

FOTD Featuring Sleek PPQ Me, Myself & Eye Palette

What I’m about to tell you might be a little shocking. In fact I suggest you read it sat down with a chamomile tea to hand. I didn’t wear makeup AT ALL last week. I know! Not too long ago I posted about how I never go without my war paint but there you have it, I was just too tired and had too little time. Anyhoo to get myself back into the swing of things I had a play with the latest Sleek palette. I wanted something Autumnal and it fit the bill nicely!

I used the shadows from the palette marked with hearts. I also used a black MAX Factor Kohl pencil on my waterline. Benefit BadGal black mascara (how amazing are my lashes looking by the way? LOVE Rapidlash). Oh and I used ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and a Bloom Eye Paint in Champagne underneath.

On the rest of my face I used Benefit You Rebel Lite, Garnier Anti Dark Circles Eye Roll On, ELF HD Loose Powder, Sleek Brow Pencil, MUA Clear Mascara (on brows), ELF Studio Blush & Bronzer Duo and a Lancôme Blush Subtil highlighter. Oh and NYX Round Lipstick in B52. Apologies for the poor lighting in the full face shot but it was the only one of about 50 that didn’t look like I was gurning x

A Couple Of Neutral Work Looks

I tend to post my weekend looks on here but let’s face it, mad colours aren’t always going to be work place appropriate. During the week I do tone things down. Here are a couple of examples of things I might wear on a typical work day.

MAC look:

Kid over the lid, Blanc Type as highlight, Satin Taupe in the crease and the darkest shade from my Fabulous Felines Burmese Beauty quad to deepen the crease and pushed into the lash line. Black pencil on the waterline.

Sleek Paraguaya Look:

I honestly can’t remember which shadows from the palette I used. Sorry!

Oh how I would love to be able to wear mad looks to work but then again I do have a soft spot for neutrals too. What do you typically wear to work? X

It’s Sleek Saturday!

The gorgeous Liloo once again challenged me to take part in Sleek Saturday, specifically she asked me to create a look with the Curacao palette. Now when you see the Curacao palette you instantly think rainbow eye looks and I duly searched Google for inspiration. Cue a million stunning pictures of girls rocking rainbow eyes. One problem, each of these girls had acres of lid space to play with. In comparison I barely have a back yard. Not even a bin stores worth of space. Thinking outside the box/ lid space I remembered the GOSH UK website. The image on the front page is one of my favourite looks. Bear in mind that the finish of the Curacao palette is different (matte rather than shimmery) and obviously my eye shape is rounder with a much bigger gap between the lid and the brow. Also I’m not a makeup artist but whatever, I had fun!

How creepy are those full face shots :p Get thee over to Liloo's blog immediately!  x

Born in the 80’s EOTD

The thing is that as I was born in the 80’s I was far too young to be partaking in the makeup of the era. Still it seems to be making a bit of a comeback these days thanks to the likes of Katy Perry and with palettes like Sleek Curacao lurking in my drawer I’m feeling more and more drawn to brights. Frosty pink lipstick? Not so much.

I’ve starred the shades in the Curacao palette that I used. Except I forgot to star the black which I pushed into my upper lash line for a bit more definition without having to use liner.

I am aware that if I don’t attend to my brows soon I’m going to need a strimmer to tackle them... I also used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, ELF Mineral Eye Primer, MAX Factor Kohl Pencil, Benefit Bad Gal mascara, NYX Highlight, Garnier roll on concealer, Benefit Powderflage, Benefit You Rebel Tinted moisturiser. x

Sleek Saturday – Courtesy of Liloo!

You all know how I love my Sleek palettes. I have each and everyone. By far the most difficult one to track down was the legendary Graphite palette which I am ashamed to admit I bought on eBay for a silly price. Despite its coveted status and paying over the odds I never use the thing! Liloo (or Tsunimee if you follow her on Twitter, which you should) has been running a fascinating series. Every week she and another blogger dig out a palette that they are guilty of not showing enough love too and create a look. This week she kindly asked me to take part and I decided my neglected Graphite palette needed to see the light of day again. Pop over here to check out her posts!

The Graphite palette contains a selection of silvers, blacks, a couple of highlight shades and a couple of indigo purples. So smokey eye it is then? I stole the idea of popping stars on the colours I used from Liloo, hope you don’t mind!

And here is the look. Be warned. For the first time EVER on my blog it involves a full face shot. That’s right people of the interwebs, my actual mug is being inflicted on your very eyes. Contact your GP for any therapy you might require after viewing it.

(also wearing Clinique Super Balanced foundation, NARS Orgasm Blush, No7 360 Mascara, GOSH waterproos eyeliner in Purple Stain, a YSL lippie I can't remember the name of and probably some other stuff I can't remember)

My only problem with the palette is the lack of matte shades. I just wish it had a mix of finishes. Regardless it is a lovely palette and I do need to pull it out more often. Thanks for letting me take part Liloo! x

Project 7 Day Palette – Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland

In case you missed it last week I announced the beginning of Project 7 Day Palette. The aim is to get more used out of eyeshadow palettes that you have been neglecting by using it for 7 days straight, creating a completely different look each day. Last week I used the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Palette. Bear in mind that I also used NYX Highlight to blend out edges and as a brow bone highlight as there are no matte highlight shades in this palette. Please also bear in mind that a lot of these pics were taken at the end of a long day!

Sunday: I used Underland, Alice, White Rabbit, Curiouser and Jabberwocky.

Monday:  I used Wonderland, White Rabbit, Mushroom and Mad Hatter.

Tuesday: Oraculum, Queen, Drink Me Eat Me

Wednesday: Muchness, Absolum, Drink Me Eat Me, Mad Hatter

Thursday: Mushroom, Underland

Friday: Curiouser, Vorpal, White Rabbit, Jabberwocky

Saturday: Underland, Alice, White Rabbit, Jabberwocky

So what did I learn. I learnt that there are plenty of neutrals in here so I have no excuse not to pull this out for work. I also learnt that the shades with the chunky silver glitter (mainly Midnight Tea Party, Wonderland and Curiouser, the other glittery ones were more finely milled) are a pain in the arse. Stunning colours but with epic fall out. Up next week is the Front Cover Rainbow Eyes palette that I haven’t used since last October... x
