Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Gloss

Trish McEvoy has been among my favorite brands for a long time. Trish does not release new products often, but her line consists of sophisticated, well-edited basics that really flatter. I've also found her artists to be some of the best at creating a polished look without going over the top.

The Beauty Booster Gloss ($25) is Trish's newest gloss edition. The product contains SPF 15 and is designed to provide color, treatment and protection in one tube. I have Rosette, which is a milky peachy rose. The product goes on thick but seems to almost meld with the lips creating a cushioney layer that is not overly sticky. The mint scent is refreshing and I appreciate the sunscreen, but my favorite feature is the color. There is something perfectly brightening and flattering about this shade. It's ideal for running errands on the weekends with little other makeup, but would be appropriate for work as well. Beauty Booster Gloss is available in 7 additional shades, and I think Sexy Peach will be the next one I pick up.

I received my Bloomingdales Lights*Camera*Fashion catalog in the mail today and it features some interesting new fall makeup.


Trish McEvoy Instant Pick-Me-Up Lips ($28)- according to the description this is supposed to give "sheer, complexion complementing lips." It's touted as long lasting and the color looks to be a sheer vivid pink.
Prescriptives Limited Edition Well-Suited Eye Color Compact ($40)- a limited edition palette with 5 colors in 3 shade families: Cool, Neutral or Warm
Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color in VI399 Amesthyst ($25)- this limited edition shade created by Dick Page is exclusive to Bloomingdales. It is a vibrant wisteria color.

The catalog also features Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadows ($22 each). The shades look like Goldstone, Mercury and Starry Purple to me but it's tricky to tell. These are absolutely stunning in in the pots. They glisten and glimmer and are almost mesmerizing! I was prepared to purchase several but I'm glad I decided to try them first and I ended up leaving empty handed. I found the base colors of these shadows to be very, very sheer, with a pronounced chunky glitter. The glitter wasn't so much the deal-breaker--it was the barely-there pigment. Even layering didn't do the trick since that just seemed to add more glitter without kicking up the base shade. Layering Cream Shadows over another pigmented powder or cream shadow did the trick and made the underlying color shade of the Cream Shadows show up more, but I'm admittedly lazy with my makeup and want the product to appear on my lids the way it does in the pot. That being said, I can see these being perfect to keep in your makeup bag during holiday season to quickly take your work look to a party! Head to Bloomingdales to see these for yourself!

Pretty Peachy Pink Glosses!

I am definitely more of a lipstick girl than a gloss fan, but there's something about the first days of Spring that calls for gloss! I rummaged through my lip gloss collection and pulled out some of my favorite peachy pinks.

Hourglass Extreme Sheen Glosses are hands down, bar none my favorite gloss formula. Smooth, totally nonsticky, gorgeous shades and a cake batter scent. Lush has a lot of gold shimmer and Trush is a luminous cream.

I love the color of the Trish McEvoy but the gloss separates terribly. Ever time I go to use it I end up squeezing out a significant amount of clear liquid before the color flows.

It was rainy and gloomy when I woke up this morning so I opted for brighter pink cheeks and lips. They were just as appropriate in the afternoon when it had turned sunny and cheerful (though I was too chained to my desk at work to enjoy it).

New at Nordstrom

Nordstrom.com has some interesting new cosmetic items up on their site (in addition to the new huge MAC Spring Collection). Anything look interesting to you?

Trish McEvoy #37 Bronzer Brush ($68) and M44 Precision Concealer Brush ($25)- how gorgeous is this bronzer brush? The size and shape look perfect and you can tell from the picture it must be soft and luscious! But oy the price!

Some Trish McEvoy

Ahhh Trish. Such love, such frustration. Trish McEvoy products were my first high end makeup obsession and the line remains one of my favorites. The quality is superb and the colors are infinitely wearable. This is the one line where every shade I try looks soft, natural and flattering on. The frustration stems from the many revamps the line has undergone in the last few years. When I began collecting, all of the shades had numbers instead of names, the shadows were large rounds pans, the face products large rectangles. The planners were large and had pages with cut outs sized appropriately for the different products. I bought a large planner and a number of pages and began to fill them, amassing a sizeable collection when all of a sudden, Trish switched to small squares pans for shadows and small rectangle ones for blushes! She came out with smaller planners, changed lipstick tubes, gloss tubes, brush handles, everything. The new shadows didn't fit in the old pans or pages and vice versa. But I persevered. Soldiered on. Said to heck with the old and bought a smattering of the newly sized products. And then she did it again. Again! The planner pages are different, the lipstick and gloss tubes were again revamped. Nothing matches which defeats the purpose of the planners and doesn't look so pretty!

While Trish McEvoy products are not cheap ($16 for shadows and liners, $20 for blush, $22 for lipstick, $22 to $25 for gloss, up to $68 for brushes), becoming a loyal devotee is actually economical given how seldom new products and shades are released. I also find that products are quickly discontinued with no warning.

A closer look at my two newest acquisitions, Golden Apricot Glaze and Blackberry Granite Definer, which is new to the line:
This is one of my most treasured makeup items, Trish's long-discontinued Face Kit in 23A. These were premade palettes of blush, shadow and liner all in one pan. Great for travel and took the guesswork out of putting together a cohesive look.
I've also gone through a number of tubes of Sheer Iced Mocha Glaze Lipstick and have many of her other lipsticks (and am still in mourning for the discontinued Sheer East Hampton). I have a few other shadows, blushes and face products, but these palettes, along with the Beauty Booster Gloss in Rosette remain my favorite and most used Trish items.
