It's the Weekend...

... and I was wishing I could go clothes shopping... BUT instead I hit the ever so fabulous Stockholm Street Style, and found these two cool jackets! Totally not practical for me, but, then again, fashion is not supposed to practical, is it?

How do you feel about all the fur out there?? A friend of mine showed up in the most glamorous little fur jacket the other day. Oh so soft and totally retro.... she picked it up in a consignment store!

Have fun this weekend, and don't let all the Christmas shopping get to you!

Red, White..... and Black

Just received my Harper's Bazaar in the mail last night, and I just LOVE the cover, so I figured I would share...

I know, it's kind of random, but with those sequin studded lips, I figured I could sneak this in under "holiday sparkle"....yes?

... oh, and if you get past the cover, there are some beautiful images of Katy Perry, aka the new Mrs. Brand.

If you must wear leather ladies, this is how to wear leather and not look cheap!! What is your take on these fashion photos of Katy Perry? I think she looks STUNNING!

This one is for the fashion file.

Black with a touch of Pink

I am kinda liking this patten leather skirt! Love the style of the skirt, the "not too strappy" heels and the touch of pink to soften up all the black...

... and how about an interior interpretation of that outfit? How did I do??
I think those glossy, faceted black subway tiles are totally cool.... however, you might be cleaning forever, as every single little drop of water would show, and that would drive me crazy!

Perhaps in a powder room? Too much?
What do you think?

Singing in the Rain

Well, so today is a total washout...
I will be at work, and hope to get a lot done since the distraction of beautiful and sunny weather is not in the cards!

Stay dry :)

Sequin, Skulls & Coral...

I just could not resist this header, nor the images!
While skulls are totally not my thing, I just LOVE how this has been put together!!!
(Horace Skull Scarf, Miu Miu Cluthc and Kiko Orange Nail polish)

VERY cool fashion blog, totally new to me, but obviously I am a little late ;), as there are over 6000 (!) followers! Meet Chiara Ferragni and check out the entire outfit here....

Where's the party?

Seeing Stars

As it gets colder here in Scandinavia, the scarves are taking over the fashion scene! There are so many super cool ones, many costing a small fortune, even some that were triple my mortgage!!! I am totally NOT kidding...
But in all "fairness" (?) they were made of exquisite materials, the colors were yummy and... I could go on, but what's the point?

These two, with their sparkly stars are just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, I came across the brand StyleSnob, when I picked up a small leather clutch / wallet type thing, and looked up their website. Their prices are moderate, and the items I looked at were cool!  :)

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Danish Fashion scene boasts lots of black, leather and fur.... I love this glittery Lucia Necklace with the leather tassel. It would look equally cool over a dress, as it would over a tee!

How about dressing up today?

Beautiful Grey

When I spotted this image I immediately fell in love!!

Not only does it so perfectly demonstrate the color of much of the fashion I have seen on this vacation, but also the knit! Cozy and fab, don't you think?
A tiny little bit over the top as well, just a tad.

I have probably touched every single sweater in all the stores I have visited, unfolded and folded a ton of sweaters. Tried on two, purchased one! Only one! I Promise....

The coolness of Grey have been mixed with black, no shocker there, but also with a touch of camel... I noticed that the girls in Copenhagen, who typically have it together, looked much like these two beautiful, chic girls! Short biker boots are everywhere, and I felt very much "at home" in mine!!

When shopping for interior accessories, I found so much in black and grey! Many items in leather, lots of ceramics, pillows with super cool photo prints (more on that later) and fur.
So much fur! Everything from fashion to pillows, to throws, you name it... Fur is everywhere.

Looking forward to sharing more of my Scandinavian inspirations in the next many posts!

Clothing Haul

Well here’s a first. Scotland’s least stylish woman went shopping for clothes. The last time I bought clothes was a dress for my cousins wedding.... in May. But the weather is getting colder so I felt it was time to stock up on some more seasonal clothes.

First from Next I bought a dress for interviews/ work. It’s more green than it looks in this picture but the material is nice and heavy. It looks nice with thick tights and wooly cardigans. It cost £30 I think.

I bought a long black cardigan as my current two (I live in them) are getting a bit ragged. I think this was £25 from BHS but it feels like fantastic quality.

Then I hit up Primarni. I don’t remember the exact prices of everything but I do remember that the two woollen dresses were on sale for £5 each. I don’t think I paid more than £12 for anything.

Wooly dresses. Mmmm toasty.

And yes I bought two of the same dress in different colours. I’m loving the whole 70’s vibe going on in the shops at the moment. The colours just suit me and I like the cut of these. I’m thinking these will be work appropriate too.

I always pick up black flats from Primark as it doesn’t matter how much I spend on them I seem to destroy them within a month. These have a sort of velvety feel so will be no good in the rain (which we have a lot of) but I tend to leave them at work and walk in in trainers. I did mention I had no style didn’t I?

‘Tis the season for tights. I had some 100 denier too but I’ve worn them already.

And finally I decided it was time for a new dressing gown. This is so soft and fluffy. Whenever I wear it my cat suddenly appears on me snuggling down into it.

So all I need now is a winter coat (All mine are woollen and smell like wet dog if they get wet. I need something water proof... shexshy) and some boots. Bring it on Winter! X

Exquisite Lace

I want to share these two white lace blouses with you, in the hopes that your day will be just as beautiful!  :)

Blouse by Stella McCartney. Notice the three dimensional quality of the lace... the applique is so pretty and feminine!

Love that this image is in black and white, you really get to appreciate the fine detail in this Grivinchy, flowery white lace blouse....

Pretty, huh?

Not often...

... does it happen that a mailer is saved in my house!
Not often at all!!

So it's to the credit of the Cole Haan people, that their new Inspired Life mailer made it in the door, past the kitchen, up to the office and on to my desk! I think it's so "now", and if you have a moment in your busy day, check it out!

Of course I had to check out the cute grey booties, but really, all I want are these....

Question; Are you inclined to view a website based on a mailer?

Happy shopping.......

Stories

How cool is the vibe of this image? Totally love the colors!!

The yellow in the foreground, picking up the tiny yellow squares in the patchwork jacket.... looks like a sneak peak, a quiet moment in time, a photo taken without the knowledge of the subject (which of course we know is not the case)! The Jacket is by danish designer Rikke Mai, from the label baring her name; Stories by Rikkemai.

Some story I could make up, just by looking at this image, what about you? What is the story behind the image???

Danish designer Rikke Mai. The brand is 4 years old, and in 2008 won the design prize "Guldknappen".

Enjoy your weekend!

Fashion

take a peek

It's been a while since I have done a fashion post, so what better timing than during Copenhagen Fashion Week, going on right now!
Funny how things work out sometimes... I had planned to be in attendance for a couple of days with a friend, but it was not to be....        so, I can only look from afar!

I am well aware, that what is being presented now is Spring/Summer 2011, but since we are slowly creeping closer to Fall 2010, I figured I would share a few Fall images.

Fur vests are everywhere this fall, only it will probably be too warm in South Florida to wear... I am sure some will try to get away with it anyhow, for the sake of Fashion :) !!

Strong shoulder, beautiful gray fabric!

Really like the layers, the texture and shine going on here!

And for all you fashion junkies with high tech phones; be the first to get the Copenhagen Fashion Week mobile Phone Application here.

Stay stylish, my friends!

Moonbeams and diamonds

Admittedly, I have been sitting on this blog post for a while, not quite finding the right time to post it.
Since I posted on the Danish Royal Family expecting twins yesterday, I figured I would stay in those "circles"!

In June of 2009 Crown Princess Mary wore, for the first time, a tiara that most people had not seen before!  HKH Mary wore this beautiful piece of jewelry at the 70th birthday celebration for Prince Henrik (her father in-law).

The tiara is designed by danish jewelry designer Charlotte Lynggaard, and is part of a set that also include earrings and a brooch.

Charlotte Lynggaard is the daugther of famed danish jewelery designer Ole Lynggaard, and she has honed her craft in San Fransisco, Paris and in Switzerland.

The inspiration for this beautiful work of art lies in a delicate spring garden. Bulbs almost in bloom, leafs and twigs. As you can see the lover band has been covered in dark brown velvet (above) to match the dark hair color of Mary, and (below) is shown with a lighter velvet band.

The tiara is made from Silver, Oxidised Silver, 18K Pale Rose Gold, White Gold, Moonstone and Pave Diamonds.

HKH Mary first was introduced to the piece via an exhibit at Amalienborg Castle.

The Brooch; in this close-up, you can really appreciate all the work of Charlotte Lynggaard. Notice all the tiny little lines on the leaves, crating texture, as well as the realistic looking twig below, holding it all together.

If you would like a closer, behind the scenes look, at the creation of this set, please click here. It will be worth your while!!

You will be able to see the process from sketch to completed work.

HKH Mary wore the tiara, earrings and brooch again at a different galla, complimenting her chosen pale beige, chiffon gown.

What an honor for the Lynggard family, they could not have asked for a better "model"!!

One last, up close, look at the beautiful work!!

I am fascinated by how different the tiara looks on a white background, bathed in light......

The official name of the tiara is: Midnats Diademet.
(translates to Midnight Tirara)
Hope you enjoyed this little gem of a story!

Twins

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark
are expecting twins in January!

Congratulations!!

HKH Mary looks fresh and beautiful on her first official job, after the big announcement. The tiniest of baby bumps just beginning to show.

Starting the day with happy news, is always good!
