I really am loving seeing everyone’s responses to these questions. This week I am featuring Paula from Corn Flake Girls Musings . Her blog talks about several things including beauty. Like me she follows a gluten free diet do it’s a fab place to pick up some tips!
I love discovering new products and blogging is a great way to do that but what I love most is getting to know fellow bloggers and becoming part of a community. This can be by leaving comments on blogs, chatting on twitter or actually meeting up.
The only downside is that some people let it turn into one big popularity contest and can get so hung up on how many followers they have compared with other bloggers, for me it's all about the content. Of course followers are nice but that's not the main reason I blog. But it's not a massive turn off and the upsides far out way this.
* Why beauty/ makeup? What made you decide you wanted to blog about it?
I love make up/beauty so I decided to write about it mainly as a way of justifying my ever growing lipstick collection, hehe. I'm glad I did though because blogging is teaching me to be a bit more adventurous with my make up choices (especially eye shadow wise).
I like variety so try to include different kinds of posts on my blog, you're just as likely to find a book review or recipe as you are to find me talking about my latest beauty purchase.
Reading other blogs was instrumental in my decision to start my own, it always looked like fun and I'm delighted I finally took the plunge.
* You have 5 minutes before you have to leave the house. What items do you throw on?
Five minutes you say? Apart from clothes then it's obviously some foundation, concealer, mascara and a slick of lipgloss. If I've time left I'd switch the gloss for a lipstick and add blusher but those four are my make up basics.
* Are there any brands that aren’t available in your country that you would love to try? What ‘local’ brands do you think everyone should have a chance to try?
Living in Dublin, Ireland the brand I miss out on the most is Sleek and I also have my eye on some Accessorize bits. I really should make that trip to Belfast soon to pick some items up. My heart would love a Sephora here but I'm not sure my head and wallet would agree.
As for locally available brands, I'm currently loving Essence, Catrice and NYC. I know they're readily available in other European countries but I'm not sure you can get Essence or Catrice in the UK, which is a shame as they're great brands at bargain prices.
* What entices you to follow a new blog? What puts you off?
I love discovering new blogs, especially ones where you can immediately get a sense of the bloggers personality. I'm quite nosey at heart so I love getting even a little insight into a blogger's life, now I'm by no means saying that we should all put everything about ourselves out there but sometimes it's nice to share a little extra nugget of info
Being honest in product reviews is a must for me as blogs are where I turn to do some research before buying a new product and I'd hate to think people are posting overly positive reviews just for the sake of it (not that it happens a lot mind which is good).
Thanks again Paula for taking the time to answer the questions! x
