Life & Work

During Copenhagen Fashion Week Malene Birger launched not only a new collection, but also a new book!

Life & Work; Malene Birger's Life in Pictures. The book is a collection of fantastic images from Malene Birger's two homes in Copenhagen, as well as two homes on Mallorca.

Many of her own black and white abstract paintings are included in the book.....

.... and during a fashion show, Malene Birger's clothing is on display, but so is her art work!

When visiting Copenhagen, you must visit her flagship store! It's fantastic, could have spent lots of cash in there; Ballerina shoes with tiny metal studs, comfy knitted cardigans, leather bags and clutches, cool jewelery! .... I was good .... I only walked out with the book :) Never mind that it's over two hundred-some pages & weighs a ton!

Check out this post on one of Malene Birger's homes, featured here on Northern Light earlier this year.

UPDATE...
I walked around København for two days in my black boots, determined to blend in, but had to wear my dreaded sneakers the last day.... lot's of walking in Copenhagen, so be prepared!

Polka dot

Finding this little polka dotted ceramic tray to be the cutest ever!
I happen to have a turqouise version.....

It's Time...

... it's time for vacation!!

I am SO READY for this vacation, leaving bright and early tomorrow morning. Looking forward to new places and old faces....

Ciao, Ciao Bella!

Soft Blues... again

I am particularly interested in the wall art; Is it a tapestry? Is it a wooden, carved wall plaque? Does anyone know?
Either way, I think it ties the whole room together beautifully; the metal sconces, the dark floor, the lacquered coffee table, the blue walls and the neutral furniture. Do you think the room was built around this piece of artwork? It would almost be too much of a coincidence to build up the room, and then go hunting for art, that would fit the space so perfectly.... just a thought!

Have a beautiful day,

Natasha

I found it...

I have been reading this fun blog from Sweden for about a year now, and every so often an image of H of P's home show up, and every time I see this Butterfly print, I try to find out where it's from... well, I found it!! YEAH!

I just adore how simple and clean this image looks. The black frame grounds the almost all white image, and just punches up the black outline of the butterfly.

I was finally able to, via 117 different blogs, and completely by chance, find the website that sells this print, so if anyone else out there is interested check out Rockett St. George.

I can't wait to my butterfly arrives!

It's the weekend...

... and I just received a teaser email from Lonny magazine!
Oh, how I wish the issue was out already, so I could really dive in this weekend.... I guess I will just have to sit tight ;)

Just a few smart a.. comments on the cover;

Outdoor entertaining;
Well, here in Florida it was 96 degrees F yesterday, so that idea goes straight out the window (will have to save for the cooler months)!

Sell that house;
Are you kidding me? I just lived thru a kitchen renovation, and a Library wall installation, I am not going anywhere..... But there is always dreaming! (I am dreaming of a clean office and bedroom, now that things are, for the most part, in order downstairs...)

Summer at last;
OH YES!!! Not only is it super hot and humid, but I can't wait to go to the beach, have not been there for 117 years, which is really sad, considering people come from all over the world to enjoy what I live only 10 minutes from..... shame on me.

Image;
How fresh and pretty, so Summer and Crisp! Really looking forward to reading this issue in my newly, cleaned up office..... a girl can dream, can't she?

Have a fun weekend!

House Love

Look what I found!

I finally had some time to read a few of my favorite interior design magazines on-line this evening, and just could not wait to share this beautiful store and home with you!
Love the brown stripe awning, logo etc, very warm and chic!!

Designer and owner Christine Callsen.

Interior shot(s) from the showroom floor.

And now...... a sneak peak inside the home Christine shares with her husband and business partner Thomas Schei.

It is easy to see that Christine has a great eye for proportion, and the color choices are kept very monochromatic, but not at all sterile! Great texture and fantastic light.
How cool is that trunk??

The generous size of the lacquer coffee table, gives enough room to display several stacks of books without looking cramped and cluttered.

The inspiration for the bedroom came from the world of fancy hotels..... want to check in?

What a pretty little, feminine nook.... would love to start my morning ritual here!!

OK, so what do you think? I think this is my new House Love!
I am ready to check in, spend the weekend on the terrace, sleep in a beautiful suite, and shop in one of the chicest interior show rooms around. Want to join me?

I'll be visiting Christine Callsen Interieur on my next trip back home for sure!!!

...so, this will be my only post on the new
Sex and The City 2 movie! I promise!!

(Check out that fabulous Moroccan wedding blanket the girls are sitting on! I know where you can pick one up....)

I am going with the girls to watch the premier tomorrow evening, and I am looking forward to a show of outrageous fashion..... however, looks like some of the fashion has been toned down a little, and I really like what I am seeing! Right on trend with the fall fashion here in the states....

I just love this look for Carrie, so cool and sophisticated!
Perhaps she has grown up.... we'll see.

Hope you have fun at the movies this weekend!

Mirror, mirror on the wall...

I thought this mirror was so cool when I first spotted it in Domino, in Jonathan Adler's apartment, as I recall. I love the pops of color in this almost white apartment, and the peacock mirror lends great texture and interest to an otherwise linear design.

Then it popped up again in the apartment of Max Azria, in a slightly more ethnic inspired room.
Equally demanding your attention!

And now you can be the happy owner of a reproduction by visiting here.

.... who is the fairest of them all?

I spy....

... Purple Rain!

This is my all time, absolute favorite image from my files!!
Not only do I love tulips, but the color!!!! The light, the mood.....

Great texture, beautifully executed.

OK, so how chic is this girl in her purple tights!?
Why let a little snow get in the way of fashion, or a paint job??

Great painted purple ceiling, just try to pull this off, but it totally works here. Black lacquer Asian chairs, fantastic painted floors, great use of a long narrow room!

I know purple is either a hit or miss for may people, I certainly did not grow up with any purple - as far as I can remember - but it is definitely a color that works great with all the cool greys and the beautiful light in Scandinavia.

Just so happens that Amethyst is my birthstone..... who knew?

Invitation

Sometime ago I received an invitation via the WS Design Trade Program to meet Monelle Totah and Kriisty Williams, and I jumped at the bid. What a pleasure!! They could not have been nicer, the WS team put on a great event!

Ever since Elle Decor published Monelle Totahs home, I have wanted to meet her! She definitely holds my dream job!! As many of you already know Monelle is the VP of Design for Williams-Sonoma. Her home has been blogged about countless times, and I will spare you any more stories and simply refer you to this interview done by the fabulous Heather Clawson of Habitually Chic. I will however share the fantastic images below with you, just in case you missed them elsewhere....

I love how the books on the dresser have been color coordinated to the room.... Great detail!
For me, this room "translates" into Happy!

I would love to be a guest here!

As part of the WS Home Designer Series, Monelle is featured here, giving her take on refreshing your home; Play with accessories, Pare it down, Make your bed (couldn't agree more :) ), Mix in some greens (love those flowers!) and Play host.

Have fun making your home beautiful!

Fashion

So clean and easy, no time for confusion in the morning!

Why is it that the more clothes we own, the more often we don't know what to wear? Looking at a closet full of clothes, a million options, and yet.... nothing to wear?

I am pretty good at organizing my closet. Usually this happens twice a year; I hang, I fold, I make piles; what to keep, what not to keep, what to donate, what needs to go to the Tailor, what to dry clean and store for next season, etc. etc. etc. How about you? What's your secret to keeping stylish and organized? Do you color coordinate? How do you store your shoes?

Do tell!

Cycle Chic

....Is there such a thing??? I'm just asking!

Apparently YES!!

LOVE the leather gloves!

Somehow I ended up here today, don't ask me how, but the Copenhagen part got me interested.

I am so not the cycling type, never was! I must say these three ladies make it look so impossibly chic!!

By the way...

My first bike was blue, I remember it fondly.
My last bike was hot pink.... not so fondly!!!
