Classy Glassybaby!

In the beginning of this year, I discovered Glassybaby (this post & this post). I have secretly wanted to start collecting these beautiful glass votives, the colors are so yummy and there are so many to choose from....

Have your pick....
Personally I would probably stay in the cool color range of the first image, but then when you see an image like the one below, those colors look so pretty as well..... so many choices, so little time / money / you fill in the blank :)

As you can imagine, I have been through the Glassybaby website a few times, they even have a blog if you are interested.

One of the coolest things is the video of how these little gems are produced, one really sees the full process, "the three layers" etc.
Worth checking out here, enjoy!

Baby light my fire ;)

No purchase necessary...

... haven't we all heard that line a thousand times??

Well, it's true!! You do not need to spend money to have the luxury of cut flowers, just keep your eyes open (and keep a garden scissor with you at all times, we all do that, right? ;)  ), and these beauties could end up on your nightstand....

How fresh and pretty are these Hibiscus?
Love how the duster in the pink Hibiscus, picks up the orange in the other... We only need to look to nature for the perfect color combo!

I am not entirely sure what kind of flower this is (Please do let me know the name if you know), but Anna Sprio stopped at the road side in Australia and did a little cutting herself.....

Is this perfect?

.... so, I was thinking, this is the perfect solution for so many people!!

An ottoman you can throw your legs up on, a soft spot for your feet to rest.... If kids are involved, there are no hard corners, and it's the perfect height!

Further more, the space for the tray, within the tufted ottoman, is so close to perfection... Why didn't anyone thing of this before?? Now your tea wont hit the floor, and your flowers and books will have a spot to sit on!

Do you agree? Great or not-so-great? That's the question of the day!

Bathing Beauty

A touch of gold......
A new take on a mid century cabinet, used here as a vanity. What do you think of the plaid design? How about that tiny little owl, holding make-up brushes? I like him the most...... :)

Full view of the bathroom. I think the pop of orange is great, so not to become too beige / gold! Cool space, huh?

A girly "moment".... Making things you use on a daily basis look pretty when not in use, makes you space a pleasure to be in!

Have a glamorous weekend!

There are bloomers with ruffles, kurtas & fabric by the yeard on sale!
Too cute to miss out on :)

Floral Shops

One of the stops I always do when traveling, be it in the US (Boston has great floral shops) or somewhere in Europe, is stopping at all the floral shops! I know it drives my relatives crazy; from time to time I even ask shop keepers if I can photograph in the store, and I know my sister (Hi Gugge!) gets embarrassed..... sorry!

But why let such beauty go un-noticed?

Lately I have been picking up roses in orange, but I have always loved the pink ones, and the white and cream ones, and.....

Look at all these beautiful shades of pink, how can you go wrong? Does it not just screem PARTY?
I would so love to have a reason to pick up this many roses at one time, but I am affraid in my little house it would be total overkill..........

And what about the drama here... all those tall black vases lets you concentrate on the beautiful blooms... which flower to pick?

I am not discriminating when it comes to flowers, even just one flower in a small bud vase makes my day!!
When in season, I tend to pick up hydrengas, but for everyday, I usually have a few orchids around the house. Not only is that the only plant my cats will not either dig up, or take bites of. And it seem to be the only "flavor" I don't kill right away! Actually.... They grow very happily here, and re-bloom often :)
What is your go-to flower? What do you often come home with from the market? Or if you have your own cutting garden, what do you grow? Do tell!!

Not quite Hawaii

Last summer I was fortunate to visit China and Hong Kong. The visit was short, but an experience of a lifetime, and I hope to be able to return someday...

In Hong Kong, on a day of site seeing, we visited the Ngong Ping Plateau and the Po Lin Buddha (Asia's largest seated outdoor Buddha) on Lantau Island. The cable car ride up to the site is unbelievable, with views of the South China Sea, not to be missed!!

While it was incredibly hot in HK, the weather was cool in the mountains. Half way up the stairs to the Buddha, in the drizzling rain, I spotted this beautiful Hibiscus.

.... and this image leads me on to why this post is called "Not quite Hawaii".... Well, a few posts back, I shared with you a little ray of sunshine (here), and a quick walk around my neighborhood revealed all these different varieties of Hibiscus. Living in South Florida, these are "nothing special", but coming from the North, these are the one flower that represents the tropics and the Islands of Hawaii (we call them Hawaii Flowers), so here goes:

Hope you enjoyed my little walk as much as I did ;)

(Summer) House Love

Just a quick image of a wonderful pool area! Liking the pop of orange from the pillows...
It's been quite hectic the last couple of days, so I can only dream of relaxing in a space like this!!

Have a beautiful day,

Do you see it?

I must admit, I am having moments, where the tiniest bit of the color orange is catching my eye... (check out this post)

These two completely different images totally work together. I had planned on showing them to you side by side for the full effect, but decided last minute, that they look better larger, so you can really see the details.

Do you see it? The similarities?

Orange Crush

Totally gorgeous bouquet, just L.O.V.E the orange with a touch of hot pink!

Confession; Just finished an event at my job, theme colors; Orange & Hot Pink....
I am not wearing anymore Hot Pink for a while..... I think ;)

.... unless, of cause, I can get my hand on this beach pareo from Hermes, then I would be finding 117 ways to wear it!

And then there is always a beautiful orange Berkin bag, of which I can only dream !!!!

Have a wonderful week,
Natasha

I am so proud to say Shari Miller of Little Blue Deer is the Art Director! I had the pleasure of working with Shari when I reached out to her to help with the Northern Light Blog header.
I could not have been happier working with her, and I am super excited to see what else she and the House of Fifty have up their sleeve.

If the first issue is any indication, let me tell you, we are all in for a treat!

Check it out here!

Happy Monday reading!!

Arabian Nights

Come on in....
Let's explore this wonderful space in Dubai together. The promise of the beauty that is to come is evident in the beautifully carved door jamb, the plasterwork and the wonderful lanterns! (Expect a modern place, not the typical ornate version!)

A large open courtyard greats you; there is a dining space.....

... and a tiny, tiny little lawn, probably the smallest I have ever seen! I can just envision sitting on the low Moroccan stools with your feet in the cool grass! Well aware that the climate makes it difficult to actually have a lawn in Dubai, I am just wondering out loud how to maintain it...
I mean, do you cut it with clippers, or....? Surely not a lawnmower :)

Wonderful, large terrace extends the living space, and with the daybeds covered, this could indeed be a very cool hangout space! LOVE the pops of orange, it seem to lend itself very well to the desert location!

Perfect way to make your indoor and out door space work together; carry the accent color with you "where ever you go", here the burnt orange has been brought inside.

Full shot of the living area. The black and white artwork on the walls are actually speakers, so surround sound is at it's best visually, don't you think??

Living in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa (worlds tallest building) does not seem too shabby to me, actualy, it's kind of cool :) !

This courtyard is so well designed with lounging and eating areas, with a little greenery to break up the stonework, fantastic lighting! If living in an apartment, what more can you really ask for??

Looks like a totally modern space to me with nods to both local architecture and design, as well as traditional plaster and wood work.

How cool is the dining table, the textured carvings are wonderful! Looks like the top is actually a re-purposed door... Either way, it highlights the Arabian / Moroccan "theme" that's going on in this space... the lanterns, the pipe, the urns, the desert colors.

How can I get to visit?
