Adoring Color

OK, so I am a little off course, as to what I had planned for this week, BUT I needed a little color in my life and it came via Adore Home Magazine.....

Come on in.... This Hampton Style house is beautifully photographed, and has a "Scandinavian aura" about it, I am sure you will enjoy what you see.... I particularly loved all the white, with the strong pops of color!!

In this story, you are transported to Kuala Lumpur, and a beautifully accessorized white home, inspired by all the design blogs out there...

So go ahead, head on over and take a peek for your self!!

Have a happy and colorful day :)

Happy, Happy...

Happy Anniversary to my Mr. Wonderful and I!

We were married on St. John in the US VI five years ago, on Trunk Bay Beach, just beautiful!!!!! Believe me, that is the color of the water, it's just incredible!

Had to have a little red for the Asian tradition (who doesn't need all the luck they can get?); the roses are called Black Magic.

I'm taking the weekend off, hanging with Mr. Wonderful ;)
Bye, Bye......

Words of Wisdom!!

Need I say more??

Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments and congrats on my new blog award, it means the world to me! Also, I want to welcome new readers to the Northern Light Blog, I hope you find inspiration here!

I want to live here...

... in fact, I would be very happy in this room!! I am convinced the pink sofa would cheer me up on any given day (though I am not sure Mr. Wonderful would be happy with a hot pink sofa...). The coffee table is light and evoke feelings of the beach (the base remind me of the piers), the white floors are fantastic. Stuart Membery white cane chairs scream summer house to me, and we all know how I love that light, casual and airy feeling!! Garden stools in bright blue, fantastic pop of color...
And take a look at all the different textiles used; anything from Suzani's (from Mexico and Uzbekistan) to bright floral, and graphic prints!
SO MUCH COLOR can be a little scary... but, I think this is just so much fun!!

Now, for those of you who follow Anna Spiro, you will know this interior from her newly re-modeled store; Black & Spiro. All I can say is GREAT JOB! I wish I could stop in, say hi, and stay a while to take it all in. I truly think this is a fun place to work (Is there such a thing?), how can you have a bad day in such an inspiring place? Oh, of cause, I know; when the furniture you love so much, and have worked hard to assemble, leaves with someone else....

Check it out!!
Let me know what you think. Would you do a hot pink sofa? Could you get away with that? (and don't you just love that bright orange table?)

Natural sparkle

To continue my "sparkle post" from Monday, I am sharing two images with you of natures sparkle....

Raw Amethyst lamp base (Matthew Studio), looking very dramatic.
Great color in an otherwise dark setting.... notice the title of the book ;)
Details, details, it's all in the details! Even the leaf and the background support the natural "theme".

Another example of amethyst rock crystal. I suspect the stone to the bottom right might actually be for a tea light, but I love how it's used here, to hold jewelery.
Trays are so big, look how two trays are layered here, very unobtrusive, just a little sparkle....

Go dig out that tray you hardly ever use, shine it up, find a few items you love and place it on your night table, or dresser. You will be happy looking at your pretty display every time you go to bed! And imagine; getting up in the morning will be a beautiful experience!

My advise; stick with a theme.
Could be color, could be feel (i.e. natural), could be anything that you think goes together!

They call me...

... mellow yellow!    Say hello to my new friend!

We are in desperate need of a new sofa (even though Mr. Wonderful is of a different opinion) and I have my eye on this pretty loud and happy version, I just don't know "if I can do it", it's so far from what I have done before, BUT it is a happy couch, don't you think?

PS. I know there is always the possibility of a white slipcover... but after seeing this, it's almost a shame to cover it up!
