Watercolor

Came across these cute watercolors by Kat Macleod today...
I see them with a white mat and a simple modern white frame. Wouldn't they be cute in a girls room or even part of an art wall, a la Anna Spiro?

How would you hang these? How about just leaning one against a wall, perhaps behind a lamp by the night stand??  Any ideas?

Third Holiday Post (one for the kids)

.... I better speed it up, as there are twelve days of Christmas, right??
This post will be for the kids, or the kid in all of us, come take a peek!

....now, I for one, have not seen one of these little friends on a Christmas tree before, you? He's kind of cute, huh?
And he has a brother, scroll down to meet him :)

The final product, prominently placed in the Children's playroom, how fun!! Wondering - out loud - how long the tree lasts looking this good???

SO pretty and festive! If you would like a little guide on how to put together something like this for your kids, head on over here!

What do you think? Amazing or too much?
I think it's fun and innovative!!

Feeling Blue

Inspired by my recent quick get-away, a few images evoking the atmosphere of New England...

..... imagine riding to the beach on this turquoise bike, the paths leading thru the dunes, the sand between your toes....

.... coming back from a long day at the beach to this "modest" cedar clad stunner.....

.... sandy feet, towels, wet bathing suites..... waiting for freshly carved watermelon slices.... yummy!

..... the place settings do not match, but it's a beach house, so who cares.....

.... ending the day with a refreshing drink (pick your favorite!), and please, use one of these cool Cape Cod Coasters from Etsy.

Now, I know it's Monday, but wasn't it fun just day dreaming for a moment?

Have a, not too blue, Monday :)

Impossible task!

Sitting here, wanting to write a new post, and all of a sudden I am drawing a blank....
Has that happened to you? I have an on going list of subjects I want to write about; new ones are added, sometimes daily, other times not for days..... and then it hits me... how in the world do I top the image below? The colors are so vibrant and beautiful!! (scroll down)

Reading blogs from all over the world, gets the inspirational juices flowing, and I simply write a word or feeling down, then I return to my list from time to time and adjust as I go...... Do you keep a list?     I try for the most part to stay true to the season, but sometimes I find that difficult.

Please share how you keep track of your posts? Do you spend a lot of time on research? Or do you not take blogging that serious? Is blogging supposed to be serious or fun? Or both? Are there any rules?

Shell Shock

I came across this beautiful image the other day; what caught my eye was the striking color of the Limpet shells... this fantastic turquoise color, in all the different variations. This image really show how a few simple shells can make a big impact, don't you think?

Limpets do not only come one shade, there are also White versions and Pink versions (they are sub tidal) as well as Grey and Brown versions (that are an intertidal species). And guess what... you can actually eat them! They are sought to be a delicacy in both Hawaii and Portugal! Have you ever tried one of these??

OK, so you might not want to eat these little guys, but appreciating their beauty, that we can all agree on, right? What about using the shells in artwork?

I see this as a wonderful DIY project for all you shell collectors out there!! Get your self set up with a shadow box frame, a glue gun and some of these beautiful shells and go to town. I suggest measuring out the space first and marking where to place the shells.... but that's just the designer in me :)

Depending on how may shells you have collected, or the size of them, decide on the size of your frame.

Hope this has inspired you to use some of those shells you have collected over the summer?!
But if you - like me - have not had a beach vacation, but want a little beach decor anyhow, a few of these beautiful Shells in Shadows can be purchased here.

Have fun!

(Summer) House Love

Just a quick image of a wonderful pool area! Liking the pop of orange from the pillows...
It's been quite hectic the last couple of days, so I can only dream of relaxing in a space like this!!

Have a beautiful day,

Friday blues...

Today I am dreaming of vacation time... So many things are happening, that I have not scheduled a vacation for this summer yet! This image remind me of a vacation I took many years ago with two girlfriends. We went to Croatia, and I swear the water was this dark turquoise, and the beach was all rocks, it was FAN.TAS.TIC!!!

So... I guess if I am not able to get away just yet, with my Mr. Wonderful, at least I can pretend that summer is coming to me every time I open the closet!

Do you love this idea, or what? I know painting the inside of a closet is not a new idea, but this just makes me smile... so glossy and pretty!

The View

Since I will be at work for an extra day this week, I can only day dream of this beautiful view...

Have a fun weekend y'all, I'll be seeing you next week :)

I spy...

Taking a clue from nature, these beautiful bursts of color "came at me" on a recent trip to Bal Harbour (outdoor, upscale shopping in Miami area), and look how the colors can be translated into your home below!

Rustic, crackled turquoise pottery, and a beautiful coral piece adorn a mantle...

... and how pretty is this little side table?  Not only are the colors fantastic, and the flowers are sooo pretty, but take a look at this image, really take a look, it's so well thought out....

First of all, the wallpaper is busy, subtle and elegant all at once, lending a wonderful back drop and setting the scene for the curves in the lamp base, in the flower dome as well as the cabriole leg on the table, the carved table top and skirt.. then there is the vases, playing of off each other with their fun curves and edged designs.

Lovely, just lovely!

Island Hopping

Since I've been island hopping this week, I figured I would invite you back to St. Barth!
Can you imagine how cool this would be, lounging here, enjoying the view and the warm sun..

The weekend is (almost) upon us, so why not just relax and dream ourselves away to this beautiful, tropical spot....
Love the strong, vibrant colors and that fan palm right there!

Come on in! I'm happy to share :)

Have a wonderful weekend what ever you do; I am planning a trip to the green market, dinner guests on Saturday evening, and brunch with friends on Sunday. YEAH!   TGIF!!

Turquoise & ...

This little tray is so beautifully edited, I just love the double yellow parrot tulips, and how that turquoise bracelet just pops! Great styling - as always - from the Lonny team!

What a cheerful bedroom, I just love the colors! .....see the turquoise beads?
All the strong colors are so beautifully balanced by the black lacquer shade.

A beautiful space!

While this first image lets you believe you will be entering another Black & White space.... that is not so!

Converted from an old industrial space in Marseilles, France, there is nothing industrial about the space now, except from perhaps the polished concrete floors, come take a look....

Floor to ceiling windows and doors open up to the patio area.  All the glass lets in tons of light and also lets you enjoy the beautiful bougainvillea's and the tropical landscaped courtyard. Imagine sitting on this huge white couch..... the view below is what you see while day-dreaming :) !  Sign me up!!

I love not only the tropical foliage, but also that the polished concrete has been use as a surround on the pool, keeping the feel of the space very chic and cool! Black lounge rattan furniture also keeps the feeling calm, as they almost disappear from view....

A corner of the patio has been converted to this covered lounge area, complete with low built-ins, wicker lamp and a dining area. A lazy afternoon spent here sounds soooo good, or a late night dinner in the tropical air, even better!!
(Speaking of critters a few posts back; notice the huge grasshopper on the coffee table..)

Simple and chic with a punch of color....
Cool way of using the wall of the bathroom as a headboard. BUT, since it's clad in mosaic tile, I'm not sure if I would feel like I was sleeping in the bathroom?.... Literally!

Ending on a cool note, wouldn't you love a dip in this pool....

Notice the outdoor dining space, great long table with room for lots of guests, or a really big family dinner. If you look closely, notice that the table is the same as in the image above, but the chairs and the lighting fixtures are different! Which one do you like better? I think the low black chairs would be my choice, but I do like the contrast these provide, which is probably why it was styled different in the first place....
Have a refreshing day :) !

UPDATE: As Anna from Design Traveller so accurately pointed out to me, I forgot to mention (shame on me!) that it was through her lead that I found these images... Sorry Anna, thanks for the heads up!!

Are you ready for your Close-up?

I so wish I could say yes!!! My office looks nothing like this, but.... perhaps some day it will have a little bit of this cool factor!!

I really like this lucite tray, it is non obtrusive, yet it keeps things in order. I like using a box when working on a project, keeping the fabrics, paint chips, tiles etc in check this way! It works really well for me; it's easy to edit and if it growes on you, it's the right combo.... something that does not work with the project sticks out real fast, I promise!!

And she's ready for her close-up!!
How do you work a color scheme? Trays or boxes? Filing drawers? Or? Please share some wisdom, perhaps we can all learn some new tricks :)!!

TGIF!!
