There is such a thing as skin care for men, which is probably becoming more accepted, at least in some parts of the country.
Men are lucky. Their skin is thicker and has more collagen and elastin. It is also generally oilier. So men tend to age more slowly and better than women.
But eventually the dark circles and bagginess under the eyes appear, the skin dries due to exposure to sun and pollutants and the “turkey neck” appears sooner or later.
But in spite of men skin care’s growing acceptance among the “metrosexuals”, I still think most men could care less. The only thing most of them are vain about is hair loss.
But it’s a young man’s world. Health and vigor are prized more than the haggard, aged look, especially among the higher ranks of corporate and political power. Also with such a high divorce rate, many men are getting back into the dating game, many for the first time in twenty or more years.
Skin care companies are noticing and, using athletes and other celebrities, are creating more and more skin care products designed especially for men.
However, whether the majority of men will adopt a daily skin care regime remains to be seen.
