Remember that Helen Reddy song? The lyrics went:
“I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore.”
Well, you roared, and Avon heard you!
I’m pleased to report that the company has begun to restore the ingredient list feature to its website. I did a random check among their antiaging products today and estimate that Avon has restored or added ingredient lists for 75% of its products. My guess is this is a work in process. Now would be a good time to write the company and thank them.
In case you missed this little consumer protection drive, here is some background. Sometime in July, the ingredient lists disappeared from Avon.com. I reported it on Ageless Beauty as well as in this blog.
In an open letter to Avon I wrote, “Consumers who prefer marketing hype to facts would never click on the ingredient link anyway, so what do you think you’re gaining by withholding this information from consumers who want to be informed before they purchase?”
In my July 30 blog entry, I challenged readers. “What can Age Warrior consumers do in the face of this chaos? Become more educated consumers. Demand ingredient information. Knowledge is power. Educated consumers will select better, more effective products and disreputable snake oil salesmen will be left to wither on the vine.”
Thank you Avon! I applaud you for your customer-focused response.
