Sample Sunday – No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Beauty Serum

I cannot believe it’s taken me this long to try this cult product. Remember how when it first came out it sold out in seconds and you were limited to one product per customer? I remember being sent out by my mum on a mad tour of local Boots branches to track it down for her. They say:

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum 30ml is proven to restore skin’s structure and appearance.
Independently proven to restore the skin’s structure, visibly improving deep lines and wrinkles by up to 50% with regular use. The first product proven to restore the skin's structure with prolonged use. So effective that other people can see a significant visible improvement in your deep lines and wrinkles.
Immediately improving skin’s radiance after the first application, this rich, velvety, No7 Intense anti-ageing serum glides onto the skin.
After 4 weeks, the appearance of lines and wrinkles is reduced by up to 50%.
Skin structure is weakened in older and sun damaged skin, encouraging loss of elasticity and causing wrinkles. After 6 months of use, the skin is shown to rebuild and over time elasticity is improved and deep wrinkles are visibly reduced.”

Obviously this is a little sample so I have only used it a couple of times and I’m 23 so wrinkles aren’t really an issue. However over the last month I have been devastated by my skin. I’ve never had really problem skin, an oily nose, some dry bits and a couple of enlarged pores but nothing major. About 5 weeks ago something went horribly wrong. I normally get 1 blemish/ month near my mouth at ‘that time’. One blemish became many and they were HUGE. Painful, deep and stubborn. Nothing worked. I was seconds away from calling my Dr until I caved in and used the old tooth paste trick. It worked! I don’t want to jinx it but the spots disappeared over night.

Now I have been left with purple/ red scars and skin so cracked and sore I can’t wear foundation. It is peeling off in flakes! I need something that will help it heal without causing any further break outs. This promises to help being both rich and intensive and hypo-allergenic.

The serum is very liquid but feels oddly thick when you apply it. It almost feels like a silicone based primer (it does have dimethicone in it) so I am a bit worried that with prolonged use it might bring back the acne. It sinks in quickly though rather than leaving you with a greasy layer on your skin and left my skin feeling soft.

Honestly I didn’t think it did much on me but then I did only use it for a couple of days and I don’t have many of the issues that it is targeted at. On the plus side it didn’t irritate my damaged skin and *touch wood* doesn’t seem to have caused further problems. I know my mum is a huge fan if that counts for anything! I won’t be repurchasing (give it 10 years and I might though :p) but if you want to try this you’ll get 30ml for £21 at Boots. Don’t forget to use your £5 vouchers and No7 is on 3 for 2 right now x

*I received this sample as part of a gift with purchase*
