As a huge fan of old school Disney films (Fantasia is in my top 5 films) I audibly squeaked when MAC announced their upcoming collaboration. I waiting with baited breath as sites like Temptalia released tantalising promo images of the wicked and wonderful characters. The anticipation mounted when we discovered the characters included comprised of the too-wicked-for-Disney Cruella De-Vil, the sinister Maleficent and the fiendish Evil Queen. I don’t know who Dr Facilier is... but good for him too.
I was prepared to pay a premium for some once in a life time packaging gorgeousness. Well guess what. We are paying a premium. Something to do with Disney’s licensing fees apparently. But the packaging? Meh. Honestly I think some of it is just awful. The severed heads on the eyeshadows look cheap and just plain wrong. Sure the cardboard graffiti is nice but if I’m honest that’ll be in the bin pretty quickly. Nonetheless I couldn’t bring myself to pass up on the collection. Maybe that’s why they did such a half arsed job with it. They knew us Disney and makeup addicts would buy it no matter what.
I’ve been saving up for this collection for a while in anticipation of me wanting everything in it but in the end I bought four items (it’s online in the UK as from yesterday, move quickly!). I’ll have a haul up when they arrive and I’m hoping the packaging looks a bit more special in person.
So tell me, did you feel let down by this collection? Or is it everything you’d hoped it would be. Or do you just not care about it at all!
