I never have been a breakfast person. My body likes to get up and moving before I put any food into it. I work out vigorously from 8:00 to 9:00 five mornings a week and still have energy to get through the day without any hunger pangs or cravings.
I used to eat lunch with my co-workers but over time, got so caught up in my work that I started eating at my desk. I wasn’t enjoying the meals at my desk; I thought I was just giving my body the fuel it required. I began eating less and less and found I didn’t even miss it. The pounds started melting away.
At the same time, I found I was enjoying my evening meal substantially more. I didn’t need to count calories. I could have whatever I wanted and enjoy it at a leisurely pace. The dinner hour turned into an hour and a half of unadulterated pleasure that I look forward to each day.
I hardly ever eat junk food any more because I’m not eating on the run. I’ve discovered foods I had never even tasted: fresh, whole, wholesome foods. I guess the Sonoma and Mediterranean styles of eating appeal to me so much because of their emphasis on these same wholesome foods and on making each meal a celebration.
